This is how Shanti Sahyog Is Taking Forward Gandhian Values-Satya, Ahimsa, Sewa

We (Infinite Group) made a move to hear more from our Non-Profit partner Organization, “Shanti Sahyog,” regarding their efforts to improve the community. The President & Founder- Dr. Suman Khanna Aggarwal is strongly inspired by Gandhi’s belief “Poverty is the worst form of violence” and “An ounce of practice is better than a ton of theory”. Being a Gandhian Scholar herself, Shanti Sahyog was founded as a sister organization to a Swedish peace NGO called Samarbete for Fred, which means “cooperation for peace” in English and “Shanti Sahyog” in Hindi, this is how Shanti Sahyog came into being on 30th September’1992 with the aim ‘To help individuals and communities break the cycle of poverty that prevents them from reaching their full potential.’

Since 2004, Team Shanti Sahyog of 42 has thus been providing assistance to the poor in 17 South Delhi slums (Kalkaji/Govind Puri area) and, as of 2017, in Tughlakabad Village, New Delhi, with a focus on women and children, in the areas of literacy, healthcare, skill development, women’s empowerment, and elderly care. Being a professor at Delhi University she was financially secure but as it is said grass only seems greener from outside. She also faced difficulties at the grassroot level to find sustainable solutions to the problems and also in making hardest decisions in support of children. She is also taking a step forward in hope that more people will reach out in order to gain more donors and sponsors for underprivileged children. The Entire Shanti Sahyog Team is strongly committed to putting Mahatma Gandhiji’s values into practices- Satya (Truth), Ahimsa (Non-Violence), Sewa (service) for betterment of the society.

Dr. Khanna mentioned that by God’s grace and blessings all of their programs have been successful and Valuable including the Workshop conducted with us under the initiative #EducationForAll. She bid adieu to us by welcoming us again.
