UK reached a mark of 600,000 international students ten years prior to the decided time-frame

The United Kingdom has inspired various study-abroad destinations by reaching a mark of 600,000 international students ten years prior the decided timeline (Source: Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) 

Statistics curated from the research 

  • A total of 605,130 international students applied to seek admission in some of the top UK universities in the year 2020/2021.
  • In comparison to a year prior, when the country welcomed 556,625 international students, the number climbed by 8.7%.
  • The total number of students in UK universities in the year 2020-2021 were around 2,751,865.
    Furthermore reports suggested that the following countries were responsible for sending the highest number of students to the UK last year:
  • Italy- 14,605 
  • France- 14,090 
  • Romania- 12,860 

In 2020/21, however, students from India accounted for 19% of all non-EU enrollments. India ranked second among non-EU nations in the UK in 2020/21, with 84,555 students, followed by Nigeria with 21,305 students, while Malaysian students declined by 30% in five academic years, from 16,485 in 2016/17 to 11,510 in 2020/21.

The UK continues to walk on this path with a new set of achievements by establishing a target of reaching 600,000+ international students by 2030 irrespective of the burden of new variants of covid-19. International students are all set to encourage the measures taken by the UK authorities ensuring steps are taken in their best interest.
