 A report a few months ago  showed that the number of international students in Germany in the winter semester 2021/22 increased by 8% over the previous year. During the academic year 2021/22, nearly 350,000 international students enrolled in German higher education institutions.

China and India are the most widely known countries of origin for international students studying in Germany, followed by Syria and Austria. Russia, Iran, Turkey, Italy, Cameroon, Ukraine, France, and the United States are not the only countries which send the most students to Germany.
