The International Experience Canada programme will now be open for applications starting in 2023, according to some substantial modifications that IRCC announced today.
For its International Experience Canada (IEC) program’s forthcoming year, the Canadian government will increase the number of applicants. At a news conference held today in Banff, Alberta, they disclosed the program’s start date as January 9, 2023.
The International Exchange and Cooperation (IEC) programme enables young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who reside in any of Canada’s 36 partner nations to work and travel for up to two years here, and vice versa. Its application scale will expand by 20%, or almost 15,000 additional slots, on January 9th, 2023. As a result, “almost 90,000 individuals, including Francophone adolescents, will be able to work and travel in Canada, which will help employers cover labor gaps, notably for seasonal job opportunities in Canada’s tourism industry.”
According to Sean Fraser, minister of immigration, “Our government is assisting more foreign youngsters to work and travel in Canada, thereby assisting companies, most of whom are in the tourism industry, to locate the personnel they need. In particular in regions like Banff that need seasonal labor, we are boosting our economy and assisting our businesses by providing youth with the chance to experience international travel and employment.
