Canada reaches a mark of welcoming half a million immigrants for the first time in Canadian history

It wouldn’t be incorrect to say, how 2020 turned out to be quite a nightmare the world never expected, but eventually, everybody found ways to cope up with the loss.

The Government of Canada came up with a post-pandemic recovery plan to rescue the falling graph of immigrants flying to Canada. The agenda was to work towards a new prosperous future under the 2021-2023 immigration levels plan by welcoming 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021.

First time in Canadian History, a target of 401,000 new permanent residents was achieved which even defeated the 1913 record that claimed the most number of newcomers in a year. As quoted by Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship.

Indeed, one cannot prevent themselves from labeling this a historic win especially after the discern loss. Closed borders, domestic lockdowns ended into eternity for the travelers, however, the phrase it’s never too late was taken a bit too seriously by the employees of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) who worked sleepless nights to reach a mark of half a million applications in 2021. IRCC claimed in order to achieve this win, they embraced new technology and brought more processes online which are now a permanent improvement in Canada’s immigration system.

Further quotes mentioned how the majority of new permanent residents were already within the borders on temporary status. New programs are launched to engage essential workers, health care professionals, international graduates, and French-speaking newcomers.

IRCC also mentioned family reunification being another pillar, to which they reunited spouses and children enabling more families to sponsor their parents and grandparents. Canada welcomed refugees with open arms and provided vulnerable shelter when most of the countries were restricting all ways to let them in.

With consistent efforts made in favor of immigrants and international students, we hope to witness some revolutionary changes prioritizing education and bringing home improved career prospects and technology, making Canada a leading choice for all.
