Birmingham College of Art, Birmingham School of Music, Birmingham College of Commerce, South Birmingham Technical College, and North Birmingham Technical College were the five colleges that made up The City of Birmingham Polytechnic.
Later in 1975 Polytechnic added City of Birmingham College of Education, Bordesley College of Education, and Anstey College of Physical Education. Birmingham Institute of Art and Design was formed combining Bournville College of Art and the Faculty of Art and Design in the year 1988. Birmingham City University is one of the most demanded Universities in England with almost 24,000 students. It has four faculties which are responsible for various specializations and courses (undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research, foundation, short-term and part-time).
